About
My goal is provide practical tools, strategies and resources to help the challenges you're currently facing. I work alongside the exisiting team you have. My background provides me with the skill set I need. I have an Honours degree in Psychology, a four year degree in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Theology. My experiences, in addition to those directly connected to my education, including personal experience of living through the agony as the mother to a teen suffering. This is what shaped me and lead me to be driven to help others on their journey with / or affected by an eating disorder.
My Story
I am passionate about imparting what I learnt along the road to my daughters recovery. I found it to be such a draining experience, which rocked me to my very core. I was exhausted much of the time, had constant nightmares, my hair thinned from the stress, I cried a lot, sometimes not even really knowing why, and I had a tremendous sense of protectiveness for my child. This was all encompassing through every fibre of my life. It was utterly traumatising, and that was with a supportive family, professional medical, therapeutic and nutritional care.
I would have benefitted greatly from having someone coach me each week from a practical standpoint. There is a lot of help and many beneficial resources available, but in the middle of this hellish journey it doesn't always seem easy to navigate to find the best of these. It can feel like a minefield and a pile of books on my bedside table offering advice made me feel guilty when I was so tired my eyes just couldn't stay open for me to trawl through to find the gems I needed to help fight the ED.
I decided that being that person, the one to hold your hand through this, whether you have the eating disorder, or you are a parent or carer of someone who does, I want to guide you through and make this easier. There is a way forward.
